If we look carefully, we will find echoes of the Gospel embedded in many of the great stories and films of our culture. From Marvel’s Endgame, Disney’s Frozen, Pixar’s Toy Story, and Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, the Gospel is woven into the fabric of these compelling storylines. How can we learn to recognize these Gospel moments? What are their main features? Why do they keep arising, even in secular storytelling? And what would it look like to leverage them in evangelism and apologetics?

A compassionate and clear presentation of the Gospel message will always bring about three results. Some people will be drawn to God, others will be driven away, and some will rise up and oppose the Good News. We proclaim the message of salvation with love and compassion, but love is not a safeguard against opposition, as the life and ministry of Jesus Himself clearly show. Opposition of any kind always hurts, and we can be tempted to keep silent or to water down the message in order to avoid that hurt. How then can we share the Gospel despite the opposition without losing heart?

What is the foundation for a life of discipleship and maturity in Christ? What prevents Christians from growing in their faith? And how can we cultivate the Christ-like humility required for authentic relationships in our witness? In this talk, we address these questions and more through the following three talks:

How to lead in ministry and meet the needs of others is often a clearer and less exhausting path than being a good spouse and parent. Why can it be so much easier to be the person your ministry expects you to be than the one your spouse expects you to be? Gospel transformation is common to the lives of all believers. This talk aims to identify the barriers that sometimes keep us from living as our transformed selves at home to the same degree we do in our ministries.

How life on earth first began remains to be one of the most basic, interesting and difficult questions to answer. Experimental as well as model studies and reviews are numerous. The talk will categorise the various approaches to this ultimately unobservable beginning. With 'only' chemical materials, chemical processes plus information involved, possible scenarios are amenable to experimental and theoretical testing, in contrast to large organismal transitions in biology. Of late, non-reductionist non-theistic philosophies have been introduced in origin of life explanations.

Every one of our churches are situated in a cultural context. This is partly local (the geographical context), partly national (the history of our country), and European (our post-modern culture). How do we work towards a better contextualization of our churches?

The early church was faced with communicating and explaining the gospel of the Crucified Messiah as Saviour of the World to a society with a very different worldview. The principle of St. Paul - "To the Jew first" - necessitated an apologetic in the context of the synagogue, and the second part, "and then to the Greek“, entailed gaining an understanding of the prevalent Greek and Roman religion and philosophy.
